Training Philosophy
At Patrick Crowe Canine Academy, our total focus during training is on the emotional state of the dog, also taking into account its genetic predisposition. From basic to advanced obedience, or working or service dog training the dog must want to do the trained behaviors because of its relationship with the handler. Every dog is different and will tell you what type of reward based system works best for them. This will empower your dog and build its confidence. This is the cornerstone of my dog training method.  
 
 

PUPPY DEVELOPMENT
Methods for developing your new pup's confidence and making your pup a well adjusted member of your family.
 
Building your relationship with your new pup so that you are the center of his/her universe.
 
Correct way to socialize your new pup to the environment.
 
Correct way to introduce your new puppy to people and other dogs.
 
Introducing your new pup to a crate.
 
Potty training.
 
Setting a foundation for off leash and advanced obedience.

SERVICE DOG TRAINING
A service dog is a dog that is trained for a specific task.
 
At Patrick Crowe Canine Academy, the service dog program specializes in the training of Autistic service dogs and PTSD service dogs.
 
The training is focused on the specific needs of each individual with an emphasis on pairing the right dog that is capable of performing the teask with the person.
 
Training consists of Obedience training, Public service and transport training, Task oriented training and more.
 
The training will also include some weeks of board and train.
 
Examples of tasks that a trained dog may perform are:

• Deep pressure therapy and interrupting behaviors that make be harmful to the person.
• Interrupting anxiety attacks.
• Using the dog to maintain balance.

 
Examples of alerts that a trained dog may perform:

• Seizure alert
• Allergy allert
• high or low blood sugar alert

TRAIN THE TRAINER
Whether you are just starting our in the dog training world or you want to improve your skills as a trainer and go beyond obedience training, my TRAIN THE TRAINER course is designed to improve your knowledge and skills, individualized to your specific goals through my personal instruction.
 
Course includes hours of one on one training in the field, working on rehabilitating shelter dogs and online courses.
 
Course includes, The science behind dog training, The four quadrants, Puppy development and obedience, building a relationship with your dog, proper use of rewards, advanced obedience training.
 
The art of correcting your dog, How to train your dog using toys and play reward, Working with aggressive dogs, Teaching pack structure, E-collar training.

BOARD AND TRAIN
This is a customized training program based on the specific needs of the dog. Board and train will be a minimum of two weeks with daily updates and videos.
 
The goals and objectives and the expected outcome will be clearly defined at the beginning and three follow up private training sessions are included in the package.
 
Whether its puppy basic obedience or advanced off leash obedience, service dog training, behavior modification or protection training, the board and train program is ideal for the family or person who has a busy lifestyle and hasn't got the time to attend a regular weekly training program.
 
The goal of the program is to create a calm dog that has a clear state of mind, to develop the relationship between the dog and owner, and have a dog that can handle any social and environmental situation.
